Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Cynthia Sierra. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Houston–Clear Lake. I’m also a wife and mother of two, and I understand that life can involve balancing many roles, responsibilities, relationships, and unexpected challenges.

As a therapist, I work with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, anger, low self-esteem, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, ADHD, as well as parenting concerns and family stress. I strive to create a space where clients feel comfortable being themselves without fear of judgment.

I believe that asking for support is often the beginning of meaningful change. You don’t have to come to therapy knowing exactly what is wrong or what you need. Part of our work together can be figuring that out. I bring compassion, curiosity, and a practical approach to therapy, while recognizing that every person’s experiences, strengths, and goals are different.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is rooted in partnership. You are the expert in your own life, and my role is to understand your experiences, lifestyle, values, and needs so that we can develop therapeutic goals that are meaningful and realistic for you.

I believe meaningful change often requires looking beneath the surface. At times, that may involve exploring difficult thoughts, emotions, patterns, or experiences. While this deeper work can sometimes feel challenging, my hope is to provide a supportive and compassionate space where you can gain insight, develop new ways of responding, and move toward a greater sense of inner peace.

I am trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindful Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and parenting education. I strongly believe in the connection between the mind and body and incorporate both holistic and evidence-based approaches into my work. Depending on your needs, therapy may include mindfulness, practical coping strategies, examining patterns of thinking and behavior, strengthening relationships, and learning to respond to difficult emotions with greater flexibility and self-awareness.

Above all, therapy with me is individualized. We will work together to find an approach that fits who you are, where you are now, and where you would like to go.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know one another and begin understanding what brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about what you’ve been experiencing, what feels most important to you right now, and what you hope to gain from our work together. I’ll ask questions to better understand your history, strengths, relationships, and current challenges, while making sure the conversation moves at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly where to begin. Together, we’ll identify your goals and start developing a plan that fits your needs. My hope is that you leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and with a clearer sense of what our work together can look like.
