Great to meet you!

Hi! I’m Dakota.

Do you feel as though your life is a struggle and you don’t understand why or how to help yourself? Has your child changed into someone you don’t recognize? Are you scared about your future or for your child’s future?

I excel at working with people who have become stuck, lost, or hurt. I focus on empowering you or your child with skills and increasing insight so that my clients can move on and heal.

I enjoy working with adults and adolescents with any problem but specialize working through anxiety, trauma, and/or abandonment issues. I am uniquely suited to offer therapy to individuals with high IQ’s who may have difficulties connecting with the emotional side of therapy. I love working with the geek population and offer therapeutic Dungeons & Dragons(TM) services. I am also a trained rehabilitation therapist, so if you’re struggling with what you do with your life/career or have a highschooler wondering what trade or college path is a good fit, I can do career counseling.

Thank you for doing the brave thing seeking therapy. I look forward to helping you grow!

My approach to therapy

I consider myself a very active, engaged, and humorous therapist! If you’ve had a therapist before, expect me to be a lot more involved than they might have been. I mainly use CBT or CPT, highly evidence-based treatment approaches with a proven track record of symptom reduction, though I highly modularize and customize for your specific needs, and am trained in all CBT versions for various diagnoses. A major strength of mine is using my additional education in biology and psychological science to combine physical body and mind methods for achieving maximum well-being backed by rigorous studies. Lastly, I have found an effective niche and self-made resources aimed at helping children and adolescents of any gender who have been abandoned by one or both of their parents.

What you can expect from me

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored treatment plan, which is like the blueprint that we will be using to determine the path of treatment, or as I like to call it, the "Main Quest". We can also determine which "side quests" you'd like to complete, such as self-esteem, communication, time management, etc.
