Great to meet you!

Hi there! My name is Damali Austin, I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor as well as a National Certified Counselor. I have been in the field for 7 years primarily working with children, adolescents, and adults. I also have experience working with the geriatric population. I believe that many times in life we hit certain roadblocks and do not know where to turn and may feel stuck. With the right tools and motivation those roadblocks can be broken down. As a therapist I am here to help guide you in making the best informed decision that would best help you get to a solution. By utilizing different techniques and approaches to meet the needs of my clients. When asked what approach is used, I can name many, however every client is different and every approach should be tailored to the client rather than the client being tailored to the approach. I feel like the hardest part of therapy is taking that first step in seeking services to start the healing process. Allow me to provide a safe, supportive and confidential environment where you are able to voice your thoughts and feelings without judgement.

My approach to therapy

I have an open minded approach to therapy. I want your sessions to feel as if you're talking to "a friend". I believe that creating a space that feels open minded and safe is essential to building trust with clients. I also like to challenge clients on contradictions, once trust is fully established.

What you can expect from me

My goals for clients is for them to gain more insight about themselves. I hope clients come away from each session feel like they have learned more about themselves. I also like to help clients find solutions to their life stressors.
