Great to meet you!

My name is Dr. Murphy, an African American licensed clinical psychologist in Virginia and Washington, DC. I also I graduated with my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University/DC in August 2011 and completed my internship at Howard University. I acquired a Master's Degree in Professional Counseling in 2005. I treat mood disorders, anxiety, men's issues and general life issues (e.g., relationship issues). I also work with sexual and racial minorities. Please see my website for more information:

My approach to therapy

I practice individual and group therapy from both insight-oriented psychodynamic work and action-oriented Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques. In addition, I may employ experiential exercises that help the client become actively engaged in their healing in a “here-and-now” way.

What you can expect from me

Dr. Murphy conducts an in-depth assessment of the issues during the first session and with you a treatment plan is created to guide the way. The goals are typically to reduce or cease problematic thinking, feelings, and behaviors.
