Great to meet you!

Hello, and thanks for checking out my profile. My name is Dan, and I've been a licensed counselor since 2008. While I would say that I am a generalist, I have probably most often worked with clients dealing with anxiety, mood disorders (depression and bipolar disorder), relationship issues, and general life issues (work/ school stress, for example).

My approach to therapy

I would describe myself as conversational and collaborative. I don't regard myself as "well" and my clients "unwell." I would not claim to have all the answers, or to be an expert on anyone's life. I am here to help share my perspective as someone who has been working on it and trying to learn about the pursuit of happiness for many years. Creating sustainable change is a slow process, with many setbacks, but with commitment, it can happen.

What you can expect from me

I try to provide resources and psychoeducation on relevant issues. I regard therapy as the "lab," where we discuss progress and plans for the coming week. Advice can be practical, but I'm happy to get into deeper psychological territory when it is relevant and desired.
