Dana Abselem

I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Rhode Island and Massachusetts with over 15 years of experience across inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and outpatient settings. While my advanced training includes child and adolescent trauma, my current practice is dedicated to supporting adults. I specialize in helping clients navigate anxiety, trauma, depression, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm, offering a space where they can feel supported, understood, and empowered to create meaningful change.

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and practical. I work from a trauma-informed lens and integrate evidence-based approaches such as CBT and DBT to help clients better understand their patterns and build effective coping tools. I believe healing happens through both insight and action, when we make sense of your experiences while learning how to move forward differently. Therapy with me is individualized, with a focus on emotional regulation, self-awareness, boundaries, and lasting growth.

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin building a foundation of trust. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, your current challenges, and what you hope to gain from our work together. My goal is to create a warm, supportive space where you feel comfortable showing up as you are. Together, we’ll start identifying your goals and building a path toward meaningful change.
