Great to meet you!

I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up as your full self—without judgment, pressure, or the expectation that you have to have everything figured out.

I am Dr. Dana Laughlin, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, relationship concerns, stress, and the challenges that come with simply trying to hold everything together.

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in meeting you where you are. I believe you are already enough, and therapy is not about “fixing” you. It is about creating space to better understand yourself, recognize patterns that may no longer serve you, develop healthier ways of coping, and move toward the life you want for yourself.

I bring both clinical experience and authenticity into the therapy room. You can expect a therapist who will listen, support you, challenge you when needed, and help you identify practical steps toward meaningful change.

You do not have to have all the answers before beginning therapy. Sometimes, deciding that you are ready to prioritize yourself is the first step.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, supportive, and direct. I believe therapy should feel like a real conversation—one where you feel heard and understood, but also appropriately challenged to grow. I meet clients where they are while helping them identify patterns, develop insight, strengthen coping skills, and make meaningful changes in their lives.

My approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and tailored to the individual needs of each client. I understand that our experiences, relationships, identities, culture, and environments all influence how we navigate the world and how we experience mental health.

I specialize in working with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, relationship concerns, self-esteem and confidence issues, burnout, and major life transitions. I also enjoy working with individuals who may appear strong and successful on the outside but privately feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or unsure of what comes next.

In our work together, you can expect compassion, authenticity, accountability, and practical strategies that you can use beyond the therapy session.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin creating a space where you feel comfortable being yourself. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you hope will be different as a result of our work together.

You don’t have to come prepared with the “right” words or have everything figured out. I’ll ask questions to better understand your experiences, relationships, strengths, challenges, and goals while allowing you to share at a pace that feels comfortable.

Most importantly, we’ll begin identifying what you need from therapy and how we can work together to help you move forward. You can expect warmth, honesty, compassion, and a little laughter when appropriate. Therapy is serious work, but it can also be a place where you can breathe, feel seen, and simply be yourself.
