Great to meet you!

As a longtime recipient of therapy myself, I know it can be scary to take the first step toward counseling. It's hard to open up to a person you're only just meeting. I am someone who wants to honor that. I want to help make therapy an accessible and inviting process to step into for you. I graduated with a masters in counseling in the spring of 2022 and have been seeing clients ever since. I am trained in EMDR but also do standard talk therapy. I primarily work with folks who are navigating (C)PTSD, but also have a lot of experience working with folks who are navigating depression, anxiety, BPD, and who are a part of the LGBTQIA+ community (a community of which I am also a part of). As someone who has grown up in communities of faith, I also have great literacy when it comes to navigating the, sometimes, tumultuous waters of spiritual hurt. Whoever you are and whatever you are bringing to the table, I look forward to partnering with you as you move toward health in your life.

My approach to therapy

As a therapist, I have come to find that shame is one of the biggest enemies, if not the biggest, to growth in my clients. As I work with folks, I strive to create a warm and non-judgmental space to get curious about the barriers to growth. It is in this place of non-judgmental curiosity about one's story that I find we are able to collaboratively navigate the choppy waters of your journey toward healing. While I am warm and gentle, I am simultaneously forward. I commit to challenging you and to helping you to realize your own agency in every situation we discuss. I am a therapist who is also very passionate about interpersonal work, discussing what is happening for you in the moment between yourself and myself. I find it helpful for clients to be able to try things out "in the room" so that when the training wheels of therapy come off you are able to implement your areas of growth outside of our time together. Therapy, while heavy at times, can also have some levity to it, and I try to welcome joy and laughter in conjunction with holding space for the difficult and painful pieces of your story.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, after going through the paperwork, I'll begin by giving you space to share what is bringing you to counseling, I will share with you a more in-depth explanation of how I work with people, field any questions you may have about the therapeutic process, I will get a general outline of your story, and we will, together, identify your goals for your time in therapy.
