Great to meet you!

My name is Dr. Deason (but please feel free to call me Daniel) - I’m a Chicago-based psychologist, and I provide telehealth therapy for adults.

I have worked as a psychologist for about 9 years, mostly with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, and other life stressors. I also have significant experience working with LGBTQ+ folks and issues specific to our community.

If you'd like to learn more about me, please feel free to visit my website at DPStherapy.com or email me at [email protected]

My approach to therapy

I have a friendly and easy-going personality, and I sometimes use a bit of humor and sarcasm (where appropriate!) in my work. I think the best kind of therapy is collaborative therapy. I want us to work as a team to achieve your goals, and so I work hard to create a comfortable therapy environment so you can speak openly.

I approach my work non-judgmentally, you're welcome to sit with me exactly as you are.

What you can expect from me

I typically like to have an introductory session with clients to learn about you and what brings you to therapy. I keep my work very conversational, and I try not to use a lot of "jargon" or overly clinical terms. I'll ask you a bit about symptoms you might be experiencing, and together we'll pick out some things to try and tackle together first. I try to tailor my approach to each person individually, some people enjoy worksheets, and others hate the idea of "homework!" We're all different, and I like for our first session to be learning about your goals and how I can best help you meet them.
