Great to meet you!

Hi there – I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor with experience working with individuals, groups, families, and couples. I earned a Master’s degree (2009) and a Ph.D. (2014) in Counselor Education and Supervision and have over ten years of experience in various settings including hospitals, and outpatient centers. I work with a wide range of concerns, but have a special interest in existential & spiritual issues as they present in the context of wellness

A bit about my approach to therapy

I take a strength-based approach that emphasizes growth, development, and human potential that is grounded in research. My vision of human nature is holistic, thus I am respectful of my clients' cultural contexts and spiritual/religious traditions. I tailor treatment to the client, including their view of the world and their goals. Generally speaking, my approach is based on an existential-humanistic view and I often integrate mindfulness and meditation based on the client's interest.

What you can expect from our first session

In counseling we collaborate on setting goals, spend some time getting to know each other and exploring the roots of your problem. I believe that counseling should be uniquely fit to you, but my hope is that through this work you will find ways of becoming unstuck and develop more depth and vitality in your life, find new ways of managing distressing thoughts and emotions, overcome obstacles in your life, increase hope and motivation, and make meaningful changes.
