Great to meet you!

¡Hola! I’m Daniel, a bilingual, English-Spanish clinical social worker. I provide deep compassion and empathy that derive from my professional and lived experience helping people who are incarcerated and facing uncertain, stressful futures. When you work with me, you’ll understand that you’re not alone in your struggles, you can grow and get through anything, and you are inherently necessary in this world.

My approach to therapy

My work with people who are incarcerated has taught me that no one is a “lost cause.” We're more than the worst thing we’ve ever done and we can overcome the worst thing we’ve ever experienced. My approach with clients stems from this belief. My focus is on complex issues such as substance use recovery, trauma, impulse control, anxiety, depression, and difficulties with emotional regulation. Change and growth are difficult, which is why I'll challenge you but do so with grace and compassion.

What you can expect from me

I believe that the “magic” of therapy is experienced when a therapist meets you exactly where you’re at mentally and emotionally, without judgement or expectation. That’s why after sessions with me, you'll feel like you’ve gained a supportive, therapeutic companion that can help you navigate what you’re going through. You will feel understood, validated, challenged, but also experience a sense of connection that will hopefully help you realize that you’re not alone in your struggles.
