My approach to therapy

I'm licensed in Colorado for therapy as a clinical social worker and addiction counselor. I have 6 years experience in mental health and 9 total years of experience in social services. I previously worked as a peer specialist and have a wealth of lived experience. I have been trained in solution-focused brief therapy, which is good for people that only want therapy for 3-4 months using solutions that are derived from you to move closer to your preferred future, dialectical behavior therapy which focuses on coping skills and balance between emotional and rational parts of ourselves, cognitive behavior therapy which rationalizes distorted thought patterns affecting our emotions and behaviors, and motivational interviewing, which amplifies your own motivations toward change.

What you can expect from me

My guiding philosophy is to provide you understanding and hope that things can be better and then work with you to develop good strategies to achieve your goals. I believe establishing a human connection with you is most important, and I do this by providing genuinely interested and compassionate listening as you share your story and I seek to understand what you've been through and what you want your future to be. Then, we set up some goals to work on and strategies to achieve them. I want to empower you to independently manage your symptoms and life without a therapist, but some people enjoy long-term therapy as a form of wellness maintenance too. Every 3 to 6 months, we reassess our goals/strategies and see if we need readjust them.
