Great to meet you!

Navigating the complexities of adolescence and young adulthood can be challenging for both individuals and their families. If you're a teen or emerging adult seeking guidance, or a parent looking for support in helping your child thrive, I'm here to help. My name is Daniela L. Vela and I'm a Bilingual, Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to supporting individuals and families. Throughout my career, I have worked in non-profit organizations, delivering family services in Laredo, Texas, and nearby counties. I have had the privilege of working with the acculturated Hispanic population in this border city, giving me valuable insight into the unique challenges and strengths of this community.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy centers on addressing the entire family system, recognizing that individual well-being, especially that of children and young adults, is deeply connected to family dynamics. I provide both individual counseling and family therapy to clients aged 8-65+, creating a warm, open-minded, and direct therapeutic environment. My approach is solution-focused and evidence-based, primarily drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and client-centered techniques tailored to your unique needs and circumstances.

What you can expect from me

My primary goal is to help you develop stronger coping skills so you can navigate life's challenges with greater stability and resilience. For families, I aim to help you build a more supportive and connected environment where everyone can thrive. If you've experienced the pain of domestic violence, my focus is on guiding you towards healing, fostering a stronger sense of self-esteem, and establishing healthy boundaries in your relationships. When working with children impacted by trauma, I strive to help them understand and process their emotions, improve their ability to communicate effectively, and rebuild trust in their world. Ultimately, what I hope you gain from our work together is a greater sense of inner strength, improved relationships, and practical strategies that lead to lasting positive change. Our first session will focus on understanding your unique experiences and what you're hoping to achieve through our therapy.
