Great to meet you!

You know those moments of feeling truly authentic with another person, when you are real, not hiding, and seen with eyes of love and non judgement? It can be a rare moment. As a therapist what I love most is the authentic and honest connection with my clients. I have loved connecting with others since childhood. This led me on a path of becoming a high school teacher, a social worker, to opening my own therapy private practice.

I hold a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California, a Master’s in Special Education from Loyola Marymount University, and a Bachelor’s Degree from Brown University. Since 2008, I’ve maintained a private therapy practice in Los Angeles, working with adults, teens, and parents, and facilitating support groups for families and youth, and leading educational workshops for parents.

My professional training includes certification as an Insight Mindfulness Teacher, completion of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and specialized programs in family and adolescent psychology through organizations such as Spirit Rock, The Gottman Institute, and the Maple Counseling Center. I have also worked as a Special Education teacher in LAUSD.

I continue to learn and evolve through my wonderful clients and the myriad of life experiences they bring into the room.

My approach to therapy

In therapy, I bring my whole self into the room.My compassion, my perspective, the wisdom and lessons I have gained and yes - I even bring my dark and sometimes inappropriate sense of humor. I make an intention daily in my own life (I try!) to forgive and honor all the parts of myself-even the messy ones. It's not easy, but it is transformative.

My practice is structured on three approaches which have been most beneficial to my own life and I individualize for each client. Mindfulness: A way of being in which we grow our ability to be aware of our heart and mind in the present moment to increase joy, self compassion, and reduce suffering. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: A way of reframing and challenging our thoughts and behaviors to reduce anxiety and increase inner steadiness. Jungian Psychology: A way to learn to be with the darker parts of ourselves without letting them control us, bringing more self acceptance and love into our lives.

What you can expect from me

I begin by having a conversation about your goals. What do you want from therapy? Some of you might know, others will simply feel a yearning for something that brings you in. I will ask you questions to begin to get to know you and ask you to be forthright with me. I want us to be the right fit. You can expect practical ideas and tools, deeper perhaps enlightening or uncomfortable ways of looking at things, a person who you feel is on your side and strives to help you live in alignment with your values.
