About Danielle Koreny, DNP, PMHNP-BC

Hi! I'm Danielle, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 25 years of healthcare experience who earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice while leading a hospital unit during COVID—proving that growth is possible in the hardest times. I specialize in the complex conditions that others might find challenging: ADHD that makes focus impossible, autism that creates daily navigation struggles, personality disorders that complicate relationships, PTSD that keeps you trapped in survival mode, and schizophrenia/psychosis that feels scary and misunderstood. I also treat depression, anxiety, panic, mood disorders, and bipolar with the same expertise. What makes me different is blending evidence-based psychiatric care with integrative techniques from University of Arizona's program—I treat you as a whole person, not just symptoms. My diverse experience spans crisis units to telehealth, skilled nursing to outpatient clinics, teaching me that healing requires both clinical precision and deep adaptability. I've seen mental health challenges across all life stages and know that effective treatment must meet you exactly where you are. Leading multidisciplinary teams enhanced my ability to coordinate comprehensive care while understanding healthcare's gaps firsthand. That's why I create safe, judgment-free partnerships where we work together toward your wellness using personalized tools that help you truly thrive.

My approach to therapy

My philosophy centers on offering warm, research-backed treatment customized to fit who you are and what you're going through. I know that struggling with mental health touches nearly every part of your existence, and my role is to guide you toward feeling better and reclaiming a genuine sense of stability.

You'll find my style friendly, approachable, and completely free of criticism. My hope is that you'll feel free to talk honestly about your symptoms and any hesitations about treatment. Trust doesn't happen automatically, so I put real energy into forming a relationship that feels secure and encouraging, one where you consistently feel valued and truly listened to.

I dedicate real time to understanding what you're experiencing, your medical background, the rhythm of your daily life, what you hope to achieve, and any medications you've tried before. From there, we'll figure out together which treatment options make the most sense for you, and I'll break everything down in language that's easy to follow so your decisions are truly informed. I keep close tabs on how you're doing, adjust medications as needed, and respond quickly if concerns pop up. We'll also touch on things like your sleep patterns, stress, eating habits, and the people in your life who support you, since all of this shapes your mental health.

Between our meetings, you can count on me being available to answer questions and offer ongoing help. Nothing you bring up is too small, and every question gets a genuine, thoughtful answer. While I stick closely to evidence-based practices, I also recognize that nobody knows your body and mind better than you do. If something isn't working the way we hoped, we'll figure out a better path forward as a team. When it's helpful, I'll also connect with your other doctors to keep your care unified and complete.

You deserve care that's expert, warm, and centered on you, and that's precisely the standard I hold myself to every day.

What you can expect from me

During your very first appointment, you'll receive care rooted in compassion and genuine engagement. I am truly committed to understanding you as a whole person and recognizing your unique individual needs, and we'll take the time to build the trusting connection that makes effective treatment possible.

Together, we'll explore your mental health journey, including how long these challenges have been present, what symptoms you've faced along the way, and what ultimately led you to seek support. I'll want to understand your treatment background to get a clear sense of what has or hasn't proven helpful in the past. Your history isn't simply clinical data to me. It is the foundation on which we build something better together.

We'll look at the wider landscape of your life, your work, relationships, family dynamics, and stressors, recognizing that emotional wellness is deeply interwoven with all of these elements. I'll explain the neuroscience behind psychiatric medications, present options suited to your particular situation, and offer realistic expectations about the benefits and possible side effects. When you understand the reasoning behind your treatment, you become a more empowered and confident participant in your own healing.

My prescribing philosophy is deeply collaborative. Your views and concerns actively guide our approach at every single step. We'll also explore complementary wellness strategies beyond medication, including physical activity, mindfulness practices, and techniques for improving your sleep. Every question you bring carries real weight, and I truly welcome each of them fully.

Our appointment will close with a personalized treatment plan and the confidence that you have a committed ally in your healing journey. I'll make sure you know how to reach me between appointments and when to schedule follow-up visits. You deserve dignified, evidence-based care, and that's exactly what I'm devoted to providing.
