Great to meet you!

Hello! I'm Dr. Danielle Koreny, a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (DNP-PMHNP-BC) with over 25 years of healthcare experience. I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice from Arizona State University and hold specialized training in Integrative Health and Lifestyle practices from the University of Arizona.

My journey in healthcare began as a bedside nurse, where I spent decades supporting patients and families through complex medical challenges at institutions like Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic. This foundation taught me the profound connection between physical and mental health. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I led a primary COVID unit while completing my doctoral studies, which deepened my understanding of how crisis, stress, and uncertainty impact mental well-being.

I specialize in treating adults experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD, psychosis, and treatment-resistant conditions. My experience spans both crisis intervention and ongoing mental health management, working with diverse populations in various settings—from inpatient facilities to telehealth platforms. I've served as a leader of multidisciplinary treatment teams and have extensive experience with medication management and risk assessment.

What sets my practice apart is my integrative approach. Beyond traditional psychiatric medication management, I explore complementary healing modalities and lifestyle interventions that honor the whole person. I've worked extensively with individuals in recovery, those receiving skilled nursing care, older adults, and people navigating life transitions and chronic illness.

I understand that seeking mental health support takes courage. My background has taught me to meet people where they are with compassion, patience, and practical strategies. Whether you're facing a crisis or seeking to optimize your mental wellness, I'm here to partner with you on your journey toward healing.

My approach to therapy

My philosophy is grounded in compassion, clinical expertise, and a firm belief that healing flourishes through authentic partnership. With more than 25 years of healthcare experience, I bring a perspective that honors the whole person, not merely the diagnosis.

I specialize in caring for adults and older adults, providing affirming, inclusive care to everyone I see. I welcome complex psychiatric cases, including multiple diagnoses, treatment-resistant symptoms, and individuals who've struggled to find effective, compassionate support elsewhere. No situation is too complicated for us to explore together.

I meet you where you are, whether navigating a crisis, managing ongoing challenges, or pursuing greater wellbeing. I approach each person with acceptance, curiosity, and complete nonjudgment. You're the expert on your lived experience; I contribute clinical knowledge, evidence-based tools, and collaborative problem-solving to support your goals and vision for wellness.

My clinical approach integrates psychiatric medication management with lifestyle and wellness strategies. Through specialized Integrative Health training, I consider how sleep, nutrition, physical activity, stress, and social connection shape your mental health and daily functioning. I explain diagnoses and treatment options clearly, discuss risks and benefits honestly, and make sure you feel confident and fully informed in every decision.

Having walked alongside many through their most difficult moments, I understand that seeking help takes real courage, and that the care relationship itself is a profound source of healing. My goal is a relationship built on trust, where vulnerability is protected, questions are welcomed, and genuine hope becomes possible. Together, we'll work toward not just symptom relief, but a life that's sustainable and truly meaningful. I look forward to being a trusted partner in your journey toward lasting wellness.

What you can expect from me

Your first appointment is dedicated to getting to know one another and building a strong foundation for our work together. This initial meeting lasts 60 minutes — longer than follow-up appointments — providing ample time to understand your situation thoroughly.

I will ask about your reasons for seeking care, current concerns, and how they are affecting your daily life, relationships, and overall functioning. I will work to understand your background, including previous mental health treatment, medical history, family patterns, medications you have tried, significant life experiences, and current stressors. This comprehensive understanding allows me to provide care that is both clinically sound and genuinely personalized.

I will conduct a mental status examination and safety assessment to understand your current psychological state and ensure your wellbeing. Everything we discuss remains confidential within legal limits, and my goal is to create a space where you feel truly heard and respected. Your story will be received with care, curiosity, and complete nonjudgment.

Together, we will begin developing a preliminary diagnostic impression and exploring treatment options. I will explain my clinical thinking and which approaches may be most beneficial — whether medication, lifestyle modifications, or other interventions — along with potential benefits and side effects. Every question you bring will be answered thoroughly, and you will have ample opportunity to share what matters most to you about your care.

Bringing a medication list or questions is always welcome, and no concern is too small to raise. By our session's end, you will have a clear understanding of next steps and leave feeling heard, understood, and confident in our path forward. It is a privilege to walk alongside you as you reclaim your health, your hope, and your life — and one I carry with me into every appointment.
