Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Danielle Roxborough, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and founder of Love is a Verb Counseling. I work with couples and individuals through a trauma-informed, relational lens because I believe relationships are where we experience both our deepest wounds and our greatest healing. My work integrates the Gottman Method, attachment-based therapy, EFT and DBT skills, and I specialize in supporting neurodivergent individuals and partnerships. I’m also a certified Fair Play Method facilitator, helping couples build more balanced, collaborative partnerships at home.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, relational, and trauma-informed. I work with couples and individuals to understand the patterns that shape their relationships and develop healthier ways of communicating, connecting, and responding to challenges. My work integrates the Gottman Method (I am Gottman Level 2 trained), attachment-based therapy, and DBT skills, with a focus on emotional regulation and repairing disconnection. I’m also certified in clinical trauma treatment, ADHD-informed care, and am a certified Fair Play Method facilitator, supporting neurodivergent individuals and couples in creating more balanced and collaborative partnerships.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I typically begin with an assessment to get a sense of who you are, what’s bringing you into therapy, and what your goals might be. I like to understand the full picture—asking the “who, what, when, where, how, and why” so we can begin identifying patterns and dynamics that may be contributing to current challenges, including personalities and interaction patterns within the relationship. I often incorporate attachment-focused work and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to better understand relational dynamics, along with the Gottman Method for research-based psychoeducation and practical skills that help improve communication and conflict. I also utilize DBT skills to help clients shift emotional responses, regulate distress, and respond to situations in more effective ways. My approach is tailored to each individual or couple and is collaborative, compassionate, and supportive, while also gently challenging in ways that align with your goals. I believe therapy is a process of growth—not a passive experience—and I’m passionate about helping clients understand why patterns develop and how to build the skills needed to heal, grow, and create meaningful change.
