Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Alabama and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I earned my Master of Education in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health, from the University of Montevallo, and have experience providing clinical mental health counseling, career counseling, and student support and development within both higher education and community mental health settings. I am passionate about working with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, stress and burnout, life transitions, low self-esteem, identity struggles, and uncertainty about the future, as well as those seeking support in processing trauma. These concerns can show up in many different areas of life, including work or school, family and relationships, past experiences, and personal, education, or career decisions. Above all, I want you to feel that you can come to our sessions as you are, without apology. You are not expected to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say. I genuinely enjoy getting to know you as an individual and learning more about who you are, what matters to you, and how you see and experience the world around you.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should be a space where you can slow down, breathe, feel heard, and talk openly without fear of judgment. My approach is warm, curious, collaborative, and individualized, with your experiences, needs, and goals at the center of our work together. I am committed to providing culturally responsive counseling that is inclusive, affirming, and respectful of the experiences and identities that have shaped you. Advocacy for human rights and the dignity of every person is deeply important to me, both personally and professionally, and I have a particular passion for supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals and others who may not always feel fully understood or affirmed. I draw from person-centered, cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, and strengths-based approaches, tailoring our work to what feels most helpful for you rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. I believe you are the expert on your own feelings and experiences, and my role is to validate what you're going through, support you in recognizing your strengths and developing helpful coping skills and strategies, and work alongside you toward the changes you want to see in yourself and your life.

What you can expect from me

To begin, I want to make sure I address any questions or concerns you may have about the therapy process. Building rapport is an important part of the counseling relationship, so our first session will be an opportunity for me to get to know you better and learn more about what led you to seek support. We will talk about what you are currently experiencing, what you hope to gain from counseling, and anything else you feel is important for me to know. My goal is to create a space where you feel welcomed, comfortable, and supported as we begin our work together. As we continue, I will work collaboratively with you to identify your goals and determine what feels most helpful for you, while creating space for feedback and adjustments as your needs evolve.
