Great to meet you!

Dannemat (she/her) is an educator and life-long learner. In her work, she promotes transformative environments that foster self-understanding, intersectional identity development, and solution-focused interventions. Dannemart earned a B.S. in Organizational Management, an M.S. in Counseling Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education. Her joys include her puppy, her plants, traveling, and writing.

My approach to therapy

As a Haitian American Black woman, Dannemart understands the importance of maintaining cultural identity and connections. Her research on collective meaning-making and self-construction through storytelling centers Black women’s wellness, emphasizing the significance of call-and-response in storytelling as an embodied methodological praxis for healing. Recognizing the challenges faced by Black women in accessing proper care, Dannemart employs Motivational Interviewing, empathetic listening, and storytelling practices to amplify her clients' voices and create a safe space for them to share openly. Clients are then empowered to effect change through CBT interventions and culturally-centered therapeutic practices rooted in mindfulness and holistic self-understanding.

What you can expect from me

Dannemart values the importance of finding the right therapist and encourages clients to assess her as much as she assesses them. She strives to create a warm, welcoming environment that fosters collaboration as you work towards your goals. During your first session, you will be encouraged to communicate openly, discuss your goals for therapy, and share the important characteristics you need in a therapist.
