Great to meet you!

Hello and welcome! my name is Darren Nguyen (Duy), I'm currently only taking new clients for individual therapy, not couple and family therapy. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and achieve meaningful growth. I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling with an emphasis on Mental Health Counseling from the University of Arizona and have experience working in a community mental health clinic, supporting individuals facing a range of emotional and psychological struggles. Growing up in two different cultures, I understand how cultural influences shape identity, values, and personal experiences, allowing me to provide culturally responsive care that acknowledges the intersection of mental health and cultural background. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, borderline personality disorder, and attachment-related concerns using a person-centered, strength-based, and trauma-informed approach. Integrating evidence-based modalities such as ACT, CBT, DBT, PRT and somatic therapy, I help clients cultivate resilience, self-awareness, and lasting change. My goal is to create a safe, collaborative space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore their emotions, challenge unhelpful patterns, and build a life aligned with their values. Whether you're struggling with past trauma, self-doubt, or emotional distress, I am here to provide compassionate guidance and effective therapeutic strategies tailored to your unique journey.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is person-centered, strength-based, and trauma-informed, creating a supportive and nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts and emotions. I believe in meeting individuals where they are, recognizing their unique experiences, and empowering them to build resilience and self-awareness. Drawing from evidence-based modalities such as ACT, CBT, DBT, Pain reprocessing therapy and somatic therapy, I tailor treatment to each client's needs, helping them develop effective coping strategies, process past trauma, and foster emotional regulation. I emphasize the importance of values-driven action, guiding clients to align their behaviors with their core beliefs and goals to create meaningful change. Through a collaborative and compassionate approach, I help clients break unhelpful patterns, navigate life’s challenges, and cultivate a greater sense of fulfillment and emotional well-being.

What you can expect from me

In my therapy sessions, clients can expect to gain deeper self-awareness, practical coping skills, and a stronger sense of emotional resilience. Through a collaborative and personalized approach, I help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier ways of managing distress, and build meaningful connections in their relationships. Clients will learn evidence-based techniques from ACT, CBT, DBT, and somatic therapy to regulate emotions, navigate challenges, and align their actions with their values. Additionally, I offer an objective perspective to help clients gain clarity on difficult situations and explore new ways of thinking and responding. Whether working through anxiety, depression, trauma, or interpersonal struggles, my goal is for clients to leave each session feeling heard, empowered, and equipped with the tools to create lasting, positive change in their lives.
