Great to meet you!

Dr. David Adegbola, PhD, LCSW

About Me

I am a Certified Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist with a doctoral degree in psychology. I work with individuals and families, supporting them through challenges such as trauma, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, and family conflict.

My approach blends compassion with evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT). Together, we focus on building practical coping skills, strengthening communication, and creating pathways toward lasting emotional well-being.

I believe therapy should feel collaborative, supportive, and empowering—helping you and your family not only navigate difficulties but also grow stronger and more connected along the way.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach combines cognitive-behavioral strategies, solution-focused techniques, and skill-building interventions, all tailored to each client’s developmental stage and cultural background. I bring a warm, direct, and strengths-based style to our work, while offering a structured framework with clear goals, measurable progress, and practical tools that families can apply between sessions to support lasting growth and change.

What you can expect from me

Safety and Respect

I am committed to creating a nonjudgmental, collaborative space where you feel understood, respected, and empowered to make meaningful change. Your values, identities, and cultural background will be honored and thoughtfully integrated into our work together. In our first session, my focus will be on getting to know you at your own pace, offering space to share only what feels comfortable as we begin exploring your concerns and goals. I intend to provide structure, clarity, and warmth—never pressure—to “have it all figured out” right away

Clarity and Transparency

You can expect open and honest communication about the therapy process, including the approaches we use and the reasons behind them.

Structure and Goals

By the end of our first session, you can expect a shared understanding of your initial goals and a clear sense of the next steps in treatment.

Collaboration and Feedback

Your feedback—about what feels helpful or unhelpful—will always be invited, welcomed, and used to guide and adjust our work together.

Emotional Experience

You can expect support in naming and organizing your experiences, so you leave each session feeling more grounded, supported, and less alone in what you are facing.
