Why therapy?: As I like to tell clients, "you don't have to talk to everyone but you have to talk to someone" Sometimes, that someone is a professional listener, something I have been doing for over 25 years. Fortunately, it doesn't get old!
Once I began to practice, I saw the need to diversify my experience to fully help people. I have worked in a psychiatric hospital (15 yrs), worked as a consultant to the Department of Corrections of NJ (6 yrs), and in private practice with training in individual, child, marital, and geriatric psychotherapy with an eye on psychodynamic process.
Based on my experience, I have learned how to therapeutically engage people according to their immediate needs along with their longer-range aspirations. A patient enters my practice in the present, brings his/her past with them, and together we collaborate to build toward their future.
