Great to meet you!

YOU DON'T HAVE TO FIGURE THIS OUT ALONE

Life can become overwhelming in ways that are difficult to explain. You may be carrying stress that never seems to let up, struggling in relationships, grieving a loss, feeling disconnected, or finding that anxiety, panic or depression are making daily life more difficult than they once were.

Many people come to therapy after trying to manage things on their own for a long time.

Welcome! I'm David Caldwell, a psychotherapist and Clinical Social Worker who works with adults, couples and families in Reston, VA. I have extensive training and experience working with individuals navigating stress, conflict, depression, relationship distress, grief, anxiety, social discomfort and anxiety.

Area of focus include:

  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • Depression
  • Grief and loss
  • Relationship distress
  • Couples counseling
  • Stress and burnout
  • Parenting challenges
  • Life transitions
  • Family conflict
  • Social anxiety and panic

My approach to therapy

My approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and tailored to each client's needs. I listen closely to understand not only the challenges you are facing but also the changes you hope to make. Together, we work toward creating relief from emotional distress while building greater awareness, insight, resilience, and learning practical tools that support meaningful growth. Clients often leave therapy with:

  • Greater clarity and self-understanding
  • Relief from emotional overwhelm
  • Stronger coping skills
  • Healthier relationships and communication
  • Greater confidence

Think of therapy as a safe place to better understand what is happening in your life, and a blueprint for creating a path toward meaningful change.

What you can expect from me

Beginning therapy can feel like a big step, and many clients come to the first session unsure of where to start. That is completely okay.

Our first session is an opportunity to begin understanding what brought you to therapy, the challenges you are facing, and the changes you hope to make. We'll talk about your current concerns, important experiences, relationships, and goals at a pace that feels comfortable.

My goal is to create an environment where you feel heard, understood, and respected. Together we begin identifying priorities for therapy and developing a path forward that supports relief, insight and meaningful change.

Office conveniently located in Reston a short walking distance from the Wiehle Reston East Metro station.
