Great to meet you!

Hello. My name is Dave Covey and I've been working in the mental health field for a total of 38 years helping teens and adults overcome moderate to severe mental health issues in a variety of settings. Over my years of helping others master anger, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression and heal from trauma, I've learned what tends to work and what doesn't. I use many tools from trauma informed cognitive behavioral therapy. I understand the need to be listened to, understood and accepted before the transformation process can proceed. If you are ready for positive changes in your life contact me. Breaking limiting patterns takes courage but is very possible with the right help.

My approach to therapy

The first thing is to listen, understand and join with the client. Then developing an understanding of the life situations, problems, and other factors. Then I help the client explore and treat the roots of the problems, which many times begin in trauma or unresolved life events. Addressing underlying thoughts, world views and beliefs is also frequently useful. Overall I'm a pragmatist and dedicated to helping my clients reach their therapeutic goals. I also teach my clients a number of useful concepts and skill sets and frequently assign homework. Dave

What you can expect from me

Expect to be listened to and welcomed. A first session involves assessment and goal setting. Any goals we set will be guide by the outcomes you are looking for. I don't do cookie cutter therapy.
