Great to meet you!

I conduct therapy sessions in both English and Spanish. I have experience working with individuals facing challenges related to depression and/or anxiety, as well as those with a history of self-harm and suicidal ideation. I also work with clients to heal from sexual abuse, intimate partner violence, intergenerational trauma, and racial trauma.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in somatic psychotherapy, which acknowledges the mind-body connection and the ways stress is held in the body. As a first-generation Mexican, I am deeply passionate about supporting BIPOC individuals and those from immigrant families.

Additionally, I have a strong background in working with individuals who engage in problematic sexual behavior, as well as those seeking to address an unhealthy relationship with alcohol and drugs.

My approach to therapy

Other theoretical frameworks that I use are narrative therapy, experiential therapy, emotionally-focused therapy, Internal Family systems, Gottman’s Method and structural Family therapy. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I also received an Advanced Certificate in Marriage and Family therapy (MFT) at Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York. I have desires to be trained in EMDR and to provide Ketamine-Assisted Therapy.

What you can expect from me

My typical approach for the first three sessions is getting to know the client and the presenting problem that brought them into therapy. During those sessions, the client guides me in their perspective of the situation and together we identify what goals they are trying to achieve in the short-term and long-term. By the end of the third or fourth session, I would be able to share with the client the techniques and skills that we would be working with. The rapport and connection that the client has with me is very important because it is the foundation of the therapeutic process that would help us get to a place of vulnerability and gentle exposure to what we are working on in therapy. I will give my professional feedback and clinical recommendation but sessions are always collaborative with each other, the client and therapist.
