Great to meet you!

Sitting in the chair across from a therapist is not easy, and confronting the reason why you are there is even harder. I get that. I would like for this to be the last time you ever have to experience that. I've spent that last twenty years, specializing in complex trauma, C-PTSD, ethnic minority stress, BIPOC issues, and affirming experiences.

I became a Certified Trauma-Competent Professional with a two-year specialization in relational health, supplemented by advanced clinical training at the Columbia University Center for Practice Innovation because of the lack of awareness in society.

I am in-network with Aetna, Anthem, and UnitedHealthcare because high-quality care shouldn’t be a financial burden. My calendar is below.

My approach to therapy

While I am a Cognitive Therapist, I use many psychodynamic and mindfulness techniques. Cognitive therapy tends to be directive, but as a culturally competent and attuned therapist, I believe it is important to be more holistic. I am very supportive, and authentic; but I can be confrontational as a therapeutic tool to develop deeper insight into unconscious blindspots. I am, as some might say, a therapist's therapist.

What you can expect from me

Listening, and asking probing questions. It is important to spend some time seeking to understand the basis of how some thoughts arise, what triggered the thoughts, and context of those thoughts. I will also assess social supports, family and relational dynamics, and other habits such as substance use. During the first session, it is important to get as complete of a picture as one can within the limit timeframe we have together to understand the presenting problem.
