Great to meet you!

I believe that we all struggle, at times, to cope with difficult feelings. You know, the ones that have been with us all our lives? The ones that make us feel stuck and hopeless at times? I also believe that we can make some sense out of our feelings by examining past relationships. With this awareness we can begin to look at your current feelings and relationships. In a non-judgmental environment, come as you are. We will approach this together.

My approach to therapy

The sessions are customized to you and your treatment goals. They can be more structured sessions that focus on developing skills (like mindfulness or cognitive restructuring) and practicing them during the week. We can also do less structured sessions focusing on gaining insight. We can discuss your current emotional experience while recalling distressing or unprocessed personal experiences. You will gain insight into your feelings as you become comfortable verbalizing emotions.

What you can expect from me

The goal of virtually all forms of therapy is to help you identify your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. You can use this awareness to make better decisions and learn new ways to cope with your everyday struggles. Therapy works when you develop a feeling of safety, emotional support, and trust with your therapist. Another sign that therapy is working is that you feel less anxious and depressed, are more motivated to face problems, and have a more realistic perspective on situations.
