Great to meet you!

Hi - my name is Dr. David Jacobson. Welcome to my private practice. I provide evidence-based therapy and crisis intervention for adult and adolescent survivors of trauma, as well as individuals struggling with substance use and other mood disorders. My own experience as a young person in treatment inspired me to pursue a career in behavioral health — I've worked my way up from entry-level positions to my current role as a Clinical Director and Supervising Therapist. That journey gives me a deep, personal understanding of what it means to seek help, and shapes how I show up for every client. My diverse training, experience and background allow me to connect with a wide range of people, including adolescents, their parents, and adults seeking individual therapy and crisis management.

My approach to therapy

My approach is humanistic at its core, drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing. I communicate in a way that is direct, trauma-informed, and collaborative, while always remaining supportive and empathic. I believe in meeting clients where they are and working together as a team — creating a space where you feel safe enough to be vulnerable as we work toward your goals.

What you can expect from me

You can expect to feel safe, informed, and comfortable from the very start. I'll use our first session to get to know you, build rapport, and develop an understanding of what's bringing you to therapy at this time. We'll begin exploring your goals together and talk about how we can collaborate on your care to achieve the best possible outcomes. Goal-setting is always a team effort — you'll never feel like things are being done to you, but always with you.
