Experience Therapy with an Innovative Approach:

Where Traditional Care Meets Modern Technology.

Specialized Psychological Solutions is a CBT-oriented therapy practice welcoming adults 18+ experiencing anxiety, panic, and stress. Dr. Kesselman provides a unique specialty utilizing Biofeedback to compliment traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Clients often find this innovative and interactive approach leads to improvement in fewer sessions, with sustained, lasting outcomes. Dr. Kesselman has a particular interest in working with clients seeking to improve performance in high-pressure circumstances, as well as those with medical diagnoses like chronic pain, headaches, hypertension, tinnitus and IBS.

Dr. Kesselman holds a Doctorate in Social Work from the University of Tennessee/Knoxville and a Master of Social Work from Boston College. He has advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, biofeedback, and behavioral medicine. With over 23 years of experience, Dr. Kesselman has worked in various behavioral health and primary care settings, providing clinical services, supervision, mentoring, teaching, program development, and curriculum building. He has held senior clinical and leadership positions at Lifestance Health and UMass Memorial Health/Health Alliance Hospital. He also held the faculty rank of Instructor at UMass Medical School, where he taught and supervised medical students, residents, and psychology/clinical social work students.

My approach to therapy

For over two decades Dr. Kesselman has helped clients strengthen their self-regulation, lessen physical discomfort, and foster creative, healthy thinking. Dr. Kesselman's approach is practical, collaborative, engaging, challenging but supportive, and grounded in scientific evidence. He often blends Cognitive Therapy with optional Biofeedback to create a more interactive and realistic therapeutic experience. Please note, the use of Biofeedback involves specialized equipment that extends beyond the scope of traditional insurance coverage. For this reason, biofeedback sessions include a technology fee.

What you can expect from me

Many individuals face challenges that can significantly impact their mental health. At Specialized Psychological Solutions, we strive to understand the unique struggles each person experiences and provide personalized support tailored to their specific needs. To accomplish this, we address how stress and anxiety impact your psychological and physical well-being. The central concept of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy asserts that our psychological and emotional distress is often shaped by our perceptions of events, not the events themselves. We aim to understand the profound connections between experiences, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors through evidence-based CBT approaches. We aim to enhance both mental and physiological coping by using cognitive strategies, exposure, advanced breathing strategies, muscle relaxation, imagery, and mindfulness.
