Great to meet you!

I am a veteran with a tech background, and I have over 12 years of experience as a counselor. I went back to school in my 40's, so I bring a lifetime of practical experience to my work. I focus on getting to the heart of the matter with clients, while looking for perspective into what may have caused the problem, and tools for the future. We will meet in person most or all of the time - I find this to be more effective.

My approach to therapy

I am a casual and warm therapist, focused on developing relationships as a tool to breaking out of old bad patterns. I'm also provocative, using humor to facilitate change. I've worked (individually and in groups) with clients struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues, focusing on client strengths and resources. I'm often told it's like "counseling by my big brother."

What you can expect from me

I'm a more directive and direct therapist than most, I don't wear a formal "therapist mask" and I'm not a fan of formal language. I believe in being down to earth with my clients and speaking from the heart. We will get right to the center of your issue and work on real solutions that you can apply in your day-to-day routine. Life can come at you fast, and people often get stuck when they don't have the tools to handle it. We'll work on getting you un-stuck and back into the life you want.
