Great to meet you!

Welcome! My name is David Rogers and I have been counseling professionally for over 30 years. I have worked at 2 separate inpatient and residential treatment settings for a combined time of 25 years - positions ranging from therapist, family therapist to Clinical Director. I have worked at outpatient level of care for 16 years on and off, through my career. My specialties are treating Eating Disorders, Substance abuse and addiction, Anxiety, as well as Marriage and Family therapy.

My approach to therapy

My approach is to first make clients feel comfortable, especially if this is their first experience with therapy. I listen closely for what brought my client to therapy and what they are hoping to get from it. I do not impose my agenda on clients, but rather - meet them where they are at, and move forward from there, at a pace that is good for them, which we discuss. I field any questions about my background or training new clients may have, being mindful that I am basically a stranger to them to start with. An early goal is to do all I can to insure my client feel well understood we by me. I attempt to give clients either skills, strategies, reading or research to work on between sessions, at a reasonable pace. We regularly discuss goals I help my clients establish early in treatment, to track progress and adjust the approach if needed. I adapt my style and approach with each client based on their preferences, personality, and needs - as counseling is not a "one size fits all" journey.

What you can expect from me

Practical skills and strategies, that we often practice in therapy first, as well as small goals to work on between sessions to help clients achieve what they want. One of the roles I see the therapist engaging is asking questions that most of us may not consider asking ourselves. These questions are designed to help clients better understand themselves, and widen their perspective about life, people, strengths they possess, and situations both past and present.
