David Stanton

My name is David, but you can call me Dave. With over 30 years of experience as a counselor and therapist, I have gained extensive knowledge about effective strategies for mental and emotional health. I hold a BA in Psychology, an MS in Counseling, and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT). I specialize in men's issues and am passionate about helping those who struggle with the challenges of modern life and underlying issues such as anxiety and depression.

My approach as a therapist is centered on the establishment and maintenance of trust in the therapeutic relationship. If we are going to explore aspects of our lives with the goal of greater health, that takes some vulnerability. Another key to my approach is that I don't just pay attention to the cognitive or thinking part of our experience. We must also pay attention to our bodies and how they become burdened (and often symptomatic) when unresolved experiences or issues are avoided.

First and foremost, I want my clients to experience our sessions as a safe place to be seen and heard. We tend to be missing that in the modern world--people are often distracted and on the move. Additionally, I want my clients to take away a sense of hope that is supported by reasonable goals and an increased ability to take care of themselves (because they are worth it)!
