Great to meet you!

Hello! I am a licensed psychologist originally from the Northeast. I relocated to North Dakota in 1998 to teach at UND while completing my doctoral degree in counseling psychology at the University at Buffalo. I work with a wide variety of individual adolescents and adults as well as couples and families of all ages.

My approach to therapy

Working with an experienced psychologist can be a powerful tool to reduce distress and gain skills to manage difficult situations more confidently and effectively. I am dedicated to establishing a trusting professional relationship based on respect and understanding the unique history, perspective, strengths, and needs of my client. Psychotherapy and counseling are behavioral health practices the require extensive collaboration between an expert in mental health (me) and the expert on your own life (you). I have extensive training and experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and a wide range of mental health issues. Helping those who are struggling with family and relationship issues is among my specialties.

What you can expect from me

Most of my clients come in for an intake session to explain why they are looking for help at this time. Development of therapeutic goals begins at this first meeting. You should leave the session feeling well understood and with a better grasp at the first steps you can take to improve your situation. Starting out, weekly sessions of 45 to 60 minutes are generally recommended. As progress is made, many clients shift to less frequent appointments. I provide direction to the extent needed and welcomed by you and appreciate your frequent feedback about how best to help you on your journey.
