Great to meet you!

I’m Dawn Doak, a Licensed Professional Counselor with 12 years of experience supporting adolescents and adults through anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I know reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you’re unsure where to begin.

My goal is to create a warm, supportive space where you can feel comfortable being yourself and talk openly without judgment. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, struggling with your relationships, or trying to work through difficult experiences, I’ll meet you where you are and help you move toward meaningful change.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, collaborative, and empowering. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and therapy should be tailored to your needs, strengths, and goals.

I primarily use a person-centered approach and also draw from Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and other evidence-based strategies when helpful. Together, we’ll explore what you’re experiencing, build practical coping skills, and identify realistic steps that can help you feel more confident and in control.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other, talk about what brought you to therapy, and explore what you hope to accomplish. You can expect a warm, judgment-free environment where you can share at your own pace.

We’ll begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship while identifying your goals and where you’d like to start. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin, we’ll take it one step at a time together.
