Great to meet you!

Hey there, and thanks for stopping by!

I’m Dawn—licensed mental health counselor, art therapist, EMDRIA-trained EMDR therapist, and founder of The Way is Through. With a master’s in counseling and art therapy, I bring both heart and creativity to this work.

Since 2008, I’ve helped those facing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, big transitions, grief, illness, and those “what is my life?” spirals. I became a therapist after finding my own way through mental health challenges, and I know how powerful it is to feel seen and supported. Healing isn’t about fixing what’s broken—it’s about reconnecting with what’s always been whole inside of you. I’m honored to walk that path with you.

My approach to therapy

Sometimes everyone needs someone to talk to. I believe therapy should be a judgment-free zone, filled with respect, compassion, and (when appropriate) a little humor. No matter where you are on your journey, I will meet you there. I will be your sounding board and cheerleader while encouraging you to hold yourself accountable.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we'll get to know one another and discuss your goals. As our work together continues, you'll increase self-awareness, come to recognize your strengths, build new skills, and develop tools to help you grow through life’s challenges—now and in the future. Most importantly, I guarantee you will feel seen and heard.
