Great to meet you!

Hi! My name is Dawn Gutierrez. I am a dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in healthcare.

My clinical experience spans across Family Health, Women's Health, Behavioral Health, Emergency and Trauma comprehensive care at the Military Hospital for over 15 years. I then specialized in gender-affirming services such as hormone therapy and ongoing care for transgender and gender-diverse individuals. While providing care for the LGBQTIA community, I was drawn to continuing my education in Mental Health Care to provide Psychiatric services to this community as well.

I approach each patient with respect for their lived experience, identity, and goals, emphasizing collaborative decision-making and individualized treatment plans. My work is grounded in trauma-informed care, clinical excellence, and a strong belief that affirming, accessible healthcare is essential to both mental and physical well-being.

I have extensive experience delivering care through both telehealth and in-clinic settings, allowing me to meet patients where they are and reduce barriers to access. I am deeply committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based, and patient-centered care in a safe, respectful, and affirming environment.

Outside of work I enjoy spending quality time with my family, which brings balance to the work I love. Caring for others—both at home and in my practice—is at the heart of who I am.

My approach to therapy

There are many treatment options available we can use to help you with your unique challenges. These therapeutic modalities encompass cognitive, behavioral, and motivational approaches, as well as the potential use of medication therapy. Our collaboration will be built on a strong partnership, and together, we will formulate a tailored treatment plan designed to enhance the likelihood of successful outcomes.

What you can expect from me

I approach my practice with an open-minded, holistic, and warm-hearted perspective, always keeping a focus on finding solutions. My ultimate objective is for each patient to leave our appointments feeling heard and having their concerns thoughtfully addressed. It's important to me that every patient gains a clear understanding of their treatment plan, with all their questions answered, and the assurance that they have a dedicated partner in their journey towards achieving their unique goals.
