Great to meet you!

Greetings and welcome! I’m Dawn Ferron, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I believe who we are, our culture, family, experiences, and relationships play an important role in shaping how we navigate life. My approach is strength based and collaborative.

As someone of West Indian descent, and first generation American, my cultural background and firsthand experiences within my own family have deeply influenced the therapist I am today. These experiences have given me a greater appreciation for resilience, family dynamics, cultural values, and the importance of creating a space where BIPOC feel safe to be themselves.

I hold a master’s degree in clinical social work from Fordham University and possess nearly 20 years of education and professional experience. My clinical experience includes; Social Work Supervisor for Department of Children and Families, Community Clinician for Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Crisis Clinician for Emergency Mobile Psychiatric Services at Community Health Resources, Medical Social Worker at Trinity Health, and Psychotherapist for Your Peace of Mind. I have worked with children, youth, and adult populations experiencing issues with ADHD, anxiety, behavioral dysregulation, depression, trauma, burnout, life transitions, weight loss and women’s issues.

Many of the individuals I work with may feel overwhelmed, stuck, exhausted, or disconnected from themselves. Others may be navigating major life transitions, relationship challenges, difficulty managing emotions, or the pressure of trying to meet everyone else’s needs while neglecting their own. Therapy can provide a space to slow down, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and develop practical tools to move forward.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques such as mindfulness and meditation, developing healthy coping skills, Solution Focused Brief, and Motivational Interviewing. Together, we will explore your experiences, identify strengths, and develop practical strategies to help you thrive.

What you can expect from me

My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable being your authentic self. Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building rapport. I’ll invite you to share what brings you to therapy, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you hope to gain from our work together. We’ll also talk about your background, current concerns, strengths, and any goals you may have.
