Great to meet you!

Welcome. My name is Dr Dawn Martinez, PhD, LPC, and I am passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life's challenges while building resilience, balance, and personal growth.

I earned my Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision and hold a Master's degree in School Counseling. As a Licensed Professional Counselor in Wyoming, I bring both advanced clinical training and a compassionate, client-centered approach to therapy. My experience includes working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and individuals with developmental disabilities across a variety of settings.

I specialize in helping clients manage anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship concerns, life transitions, self-esteem challenges, stress management, and trauma-related experiences. I also enjoy working with couples who are seeking to improve communication, strengthen their connection, and navigate conflict in healthier ways.

My counseling approach is collaborative, supportive, and tailored to each client's unique needs and goals. I draw from evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused techniques, mindfulness strategies, and strengths-based interventions. I believe that every person possesses the ability to grow, heal, and create meaningful change when provided with the right support and tools.

Whether you are facing a difficult life circumstance, feeling overwhelmed by stress, working through relationship challenges, or simply seeking greater fulfillment and balance, I strive to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, supported, and empowered.

I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey toward healing, growth, and wellness.

My approach to therapy

I believe that counseling works best when clients feel safe, understood, and empowered. My approach is warm, collaborative, and client-centered, meaning I work alongside you to identify your goals and develop practical strategies that support meaningful and lasting change.

I recognize that every individual brings a unique story, set of experiences, and personal strengths into the counseling process. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor treatment to each client's needs, drawing from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and strengths-based counseling techniques.

My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, stress management, self-esteem concerns, life transitions, and relationship challenges. I also enjoy helping clients navigate major life decisions, improve communication skills, establish healthy boundaries, and develop greater confidence in themselves and their relationships.

In my work with couples, I focus on improving communication, strengthening emotional connection, resolving conflict effectively, and helping partners better understand one another's needs and perspectives. Together, we work toward building healthier relationship patterns and deeper trust.

I also have experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and those facing complex life circumstances that impact emotional well-being and daily functioning.

Above all, I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable exploring difficult topics, gaining insight, and building the skills necessary to achieve their goals. My goal is not simply to help you cope with challenges, but to help you develop the confidence and tools needed to thrive long after counseling has ended.

What you can expect from me

The first counseling session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a foundation of trust and understanding. My goal is to create a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable sharing your concerns at your own pace.

During our initial session, we will discuss what brings you to counseling, explore relevant aspects of your personal history, and identify the challenges, strengths, and goals that are most important to you. I understand that starting therapy can feel intimidating, so I strive to make the process as comfortable and collaborative as possible.

Together, we will begin developing a plan tailored to your unique needs and circumstances. Some clients come to counseling with specific goals in mind, while others simply know they want things to feel different. Both are completely okay. My role is to help you gain clarity, identify meaningful objectives, and develop practical strategies for achieving them.

Clients can expect to leave the first session with a better understanding of the counseling process, an initial roadmap for treatment, and the reassurance that they have a supportive partner in their journey. Whether you are seeking relief from anxiety or depression, navigating a life transition, processing grief, strengthening relationships, or pursuing personal growth, we will work together to create goals that align with your values and support lasting positive change.

Above all, you can expect to be met with compassion, respect, and genuine care as we begin the process of helping you move toward greater balance, wellness, and fulfillment.
