Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Dawn Peters, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I believe you deserve a space where you feel heard, supported, and comfortable being yourself—even when life feels overwhelming.

My clinical background includes working with adolescents and adults in inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient settings. I have supported individuals navigating anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. These experiences have shaped my compassionate, practical approach to helping people through difficult seasons.

I incorporate cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapy techniques to help you understand patterns, manage difficult emotions, strengthen coping skills, and build healthier relationships. Together, we will identify what matters most to you and develop goals that fit your needs. When desired, I also welcome incorporating your Christian faith into our work.

You don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out. My goal is to meet you where you are and help you move toward greater peace, confidence, and connection.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and practical. I create a welcoming space where you can speak openly, feel understood, and explore what is keeping you stuck. I meet you where you are while supporting you in making meaningful changes at your own pace.

I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to help you recognize unhelpful thought patterns, manage overwhelming emotions, and develop healthier ways to respond to life’s challenges. Together, we will build on your strengths and practice tools you can use beyond our sessions. If faith is important to you, we can incorporate it in a way that aligns with your values and preferences.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an opportunity to get to know one another and begin building a trusting relationship. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’re experiencing, and what you hope will change. I’ll ask about your background, current challenges, and sources of support to better understand your needs.

You don’t need to prepare a perfect explanation or share everything at once. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable, and you’ll have space to ask questions. Together, we’ll begin identifying goals and discussing how therapy can support you. My hope is that you leave feeling heard, supported, and clearer about your next steps.
