Great to meet you!

I became a therapist after working for 15 years in international development and humanitarian assistance. After doing my own therapeutic work, I learned that I might be more helpful as a therapist, focusing on individual lives, rather than on systems. Being a therapist matched my personality traits, especially related to empathy, and it felt like a good fit. During my graduate training, I had the opportunity to work with veterans, immigrants and refugees, and survivors of trauma. This experience showed me how therapy can help people feel better, heal, and recover no matter what happened in their lives. Over time, I've observed my clients feel more hopeful, relaxed, and at peace.

My communication style is empathetic and clear to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment. I listen deeply and will give you opportunities to reflect on your experiences with you as an empathetic partner. If you are nervous or working through something difficult, I will be receptive and calm.

My approach to therapy

I work with adults who are managing anxiety, life transitions, and those seeking support for emotional and self-esteem issues. I’ll work with you to create a plan for growth that feels empowering and achievable. In sessions, therapy is collaborative. We'll identify and set goals that will provide a direction for our work together. As we work together, your goals and the plan may change as life events and growth happens. I will provide the support and tools you need to identify which direction you want to go and move toward your goal.

What you can expect from me

I can give you the skills, support, and strength to recognize the triggers to stress, anxiety, sadness, relationship and work issues, or other life challenge and provide you with tools and techniques to manage and overcome them. My psychotherapy practice creates that space in a hopeful, compassionate atmosphere. Psychotherapy is a collaborative process. Between your counseling sessions, you are encouraged to reflect and put new skills and insights into practice. I can weave traditional psychotherapy with mindfulness practices to relieve symptoms, promote self-care, make intentional decisions, and grow. In sessions, therapy is collaborative. We'll identify and set goals that will provide a direction for our work together. As we work together, your goals and the plan may change as life events and growth happens.
