Great to meet you!

I’ve been a licensed marriage and family therapist for more than 30 years, but some of what has shaped me most didn’t happen in a classroom or therapy office. I’ve experienced profound loss, faced life-threatening illness, started over when life didn’t go according to plan, and discovered firsthand that we are often capable of far more than we believe.

Those experiences changed the way I practice therapy. I bring decades of clinical experience, but also a deep respect for how difficult, messy, surprising, and ultimately meaningful a human life can be. I don’t believe you are a diagnosis or a problem to be fixed. I see therapy as helping you find your footing, reconnect with your strengths, and discover what may still be possible from here.

My approach to therapy

Clients often describe me as compassionate, thoughtful, and easy to talk with. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, practical, and grounded in the belief that healing begins when you feel genuinely seen, heard, and respected.

After more than 60,000 face-to-face clinical hours, I’ve learned that people are often far more capable than they realize. Rather than trying to fit you into a particular method, we’ll work together to understand what you need and find a way forward that fits your life.

Along the way, I’ll help you recruit your own strengths and wisdom while sharing practical tools and approaches I’ve watched help thousands of people create meaningful, lasting change.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is really a chance for us to get to know one another. I’ll want to hear what’s been happening in your life, what brought you to therapy, and what you’re hoping might be different.

There’s no pressure to tell me everything or have the right words. We’ll simply start where you are. I’ll ask questions, listen carefully, and together we’ll begin making sense of what’s going on and what might help.

After decades in private practice, I have one intention I bring to every session: I want you to leave either feeling more genuinely hopeful about your life or situation, having learned something useful about yourself, or both. That begins with our very first conversation.
