Great to meet you!

My name is Deana (pronounced Dena), and my goal as your therapist is to provide a warm, safe, and supportive space where healing and personal growth can begin. Life can feel overwhelming at times, and reaching out for help is often the hardest step. Whether you’re facing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, or difficult life transitions, you do not have to navigate it alone.

I believe counseling should feel collaborative and free from pressure. My desire is to help you reach your goals, but if you are not yet sure what those goals are, that’s okay too—we can discover them together. Sometimes people come to therapy simply knowing that something in life no longer feels right. That awareness alone can be the beginning of meaningful change.

I earned my Master’s Degree in Counselor Education with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health from Mississippi State University. I have experience working with survivors of abuse and assault and am trained in EMDR and TF-CBT to help clients process and heal from trauma. I also work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, and various phases of life challenges.

My approach is compassionate, encouraging, and grounded in helping clients feel genuinely seen and heard. Together, we will work to better understand your experiences, manage difficult emotions, develop healthy coping skills, and move toward greater peace, confidence, and emotional wellness.

If you’ve been wondering whether counseling could help, this may be your sign to take that first step. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin. Let this be the start of something healthier and hopeful. I look forward to meeting you soon.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy is a collaborative process where clients are empowered to explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in a safe and supportive environment. My approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), helping clients recognize unhealthy thought patterns, better understand their emotional responses, and develop healthier ways of coping with life’s challenges.

I strive to build a strong, trusting relationship with each client because I believe meaningful growth and lasting change happen when people feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. Together, we work toward identifying goals, building practical coping strategies, and creating positive changes that lead to greater emotional wellness and confidence in everyday life.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, my goal is to help you feel comfortable, welcomed, and supported as you begin the counseling process. We will spend time getting to know one another, discussing what to expect from therapy, and answering any questions you may have. You’ll have the opportunity to share a brief overview of your personal history, current concerns, and the challenges that brought you to counseling.

We will also begin exploring what you hope to gain from therapy and identify goals that feel meaningful to you. There is no pressure to share everything at once—this is a space where you can move at your own pace. The first session is simply the beginning of building a trusting relationship and creating a plan to help you move toward healing, growth, and positive change.
