Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Deandra, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and EMDR-trained therapist with over 13 years of helping people navigate anxiety, trauma, and life’s tough transitions. My approach blends evidence-based techniques (like EMDR and CBT) with genuine compassion—because therapy shouldn’t feel cold or clinical.

After earning my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University, I worked in various settings including: private practice, domestic violence centers, hospitals, elementary to high school education, on-call crisis, detention and rehabilitation centers, specializing in women's and men's health, survivors of trauma, LGBTQ+ folks, or high-achievers battling burnout. I became EMDR-trained in response to the Pulse Night Club Tragedy in Orlando.

When I’m not working with clients, you’ll find me enjoying life by: spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, traveling, or exercising.

I believe healing thrives when you feel safe, understood, and occasionally challenged. If you’re ready for therapy that’s both professional and deeply human, let’s talk.

My approach to therapy

I don't believe in cookie-cutter therapy - your healing journey should be as unique as you are. My approach blends several evidence-based methods to meet your specific needs, always with warmth and collaboration at the core. At the foundation is person-centered care: you'll find a judgment-free space where you're truly heard and your goals lead the way. When you're feeling stuck (we all do!), motivational interviewing helps tap into your inner drive for change. For those carrying painful past experiences, I'm trained in EMDR to help process trauma and lessen its emotional charge. If anxiety or negative thought patterns are weighing you down, CBT provides practical tools to reframe thinking and build coping skills. Need quicker solutions? Brief solution-focused therapy builds on your existing strengths for tangible progress. And when relationship struggles or life transitions overwhelm, interpersonal therapy helps navigate these challenges. Whether you need deep healing, practical strategies, or both, I'll tailor our work to what serves you best. Therapy with me is flexible, empowering, collaborative, and above all - focused on helping you write your next chapter. Let’s figure out what works for you.

What you can expect from me

Working with me means leaving each session with practical tools, clarity, and a little more hope than you came in with. We’ll cut through the noise of overwhelming emotions so you can see a clear path forward—whether you’re healing from trauma, breaking free from anxiety, or just feeling stuck. You’ll get real strategies, like EMDR to soften painful memories, CBT to rewire negative thoughts, or solution-focused steps for quick wins. But more than skills, you’ll gain confidence: to set boundaries, trust yourself, and treat your struggles with compassion instead of judgment. Therapy isn’t a magic fix, but you won’t be doing it alone—I’ll be right there, helping you spot progress even on tough days. Most clients tell me they start feeling lighter within just a few sessions, like they’ve finally found solid ground. However long it takes, we’ll move at your pace. My goal? To make sure you leave not just with insights, but with the kind of relief that lets you breathe easier.
