Great to meet you!

With over 20 years if experience, I provide counseling to adolescents, adults and senior adults. People from all faiths, cultures and world views are welcome in my practice. Clients come to my office seeking a safe place to process things that may have resulted in feelings of anxiety, depression, stress or relationship difficulties. I specialize in working with clients who have experienced trauma. Counseling is provided from a Biblical worldview and I will pray with clients upon request.

A Master's Degree in Counseling was earned in 2007 from Oakland University in Rochester, MI. Additionally I hold certifications in grief counseling and Story Informed Trauma Therapy (SITT). Work with couples and families is informed by doctoral level study and Gottman training to help improve communication in relationships. I have been married for 50 years, am the mother of two adult children and grand mother of seven.

My office provides a handicapped accessible space to process concerns in a home-like atmosphere. Counseling services are available in person and via telehealth.

My approach to therapy

My counseling style is eclectic and person-centered. Clients are encouraged to set measurable goals that we work together to accomplish. I utilize several approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), that helps clients change their thinking to make desired changes in their behaviors,

What you can expect from me

The first session is about getting to know each other. I will briefly introduce myself and will ask my client 'what led you to come see me today?' Once they have told me a part of their story in their own words, I may ask 'if we work together for a time and you look back and say 'I am so glad a came to counseling' what will have changed?' or 'do you have goals you want to accomplish as we work together?' This will allow my client to become comfortable while verbalizing their hopes and expectations.
