Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Deidra Evans, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Mental Health Professional dedicated to supporting individuals, children, and families on their journey toward healing and growth.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling, along with a certification in Marriage and Family Therapy. I currently serve as a school counselor and also provide counseling services through my private practice, Evans Hope & Healing Counseling. My work allows me to support clients across different stages of life, helping them navigate emotional, behavioral, and life challenges.

My approach to counseling is client-centered, meaning I create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered. I believe each person is the expert of their own experience, and I work collaboratively with clients to help them build insight, develop coping skills, and move toward meaningful change.

I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation challenges, life transitions, trauma, and family or relationship concerns. I am also passionate about supporting underserved communities, mothers, and individuals navigating stress related to identity, environment, and life responsibilities.

At Evans Hope & Healing Counseling, my goal is to provide a space where hope is nurtured and healing begins. I am committed to meeting you where you are and walking alongside you as you work toward becoming your best self.

My approach to therapy

I take a client-centered and collaborative approach to counseling, meaning I meet you where you are and work alongside you at your pace. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel comfortable being open and honest about your experiences.

My style is warm, engaging, and practical. I believe in building a strong connection first, because healing begins when you feel seen, heard, and understood. From there, I incorporate evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral techniques and trauma-informed care to help you better understand your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and develop healthy coping strategies.

I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, emotional regulation challenges, life transitions, trauma, and family or relationship concerns. I also have a strong passion for supporting underserved communities, mothers, and individuals managing stress related to identity, environment, and daily responsibilities.

In our work together, you can expect a balance of support and guidance. I will help you explore patterns, build coping skills, and develop tools that you can use in your everyday life. Whether you are seeking short-term support or longer-term growth, my goal is to empower you to feel more confident, balanced, and in control of your journey.

What you can expect from me

During your first session, you can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself. My goal is to help you feel at ease while we begin getting to know one another.

We will start by discussing what brought you to counseling, your current concerns, and any goals you may have. I will ask questions to better understand your background, experiences, and what you hope to gain from therapy. This is also your opportunity to ask questions and share anything you feel is important.

Together, we will begin identifying initial goals and what you would like your progress to look like. Whether that includes improving coping skills, managing emotions, strengthening relationships, or working through specific challenges, we will create a plan that feels realistic and meaningful to you.

Above all, you can expect a space where you are heard, respected, and supported. My focus is on building a strong foundation of trust so that we can work together effectively moving forward.
