Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Deja Spikes, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I earned my Bachelor of Social Work from Virginia State University and my Master of Social Work from Howard University. My professional background includes outpatient therapy, clinical assessments, inpatient psychiatric care, and emergency department services. These experiences have allowed me to support people navigating both everyday stressors and more intense mental health challenges. I work with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, relationship concerns, and life transitions. I enjoy helping clients who feel overwhelmed, are adjusting to new roles or responsibilities, or want to better understand themselves and their patterns. As a wife and mother, I understand how much we can carry while trying to show up for others. I value creating space for you to focus on your own needs, too. You can expect a warm, down-to-earth therapist who listens without judgment, respects your experiences, and works alongside you toward meaningful change.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and centered on your individual needs. I create a space where you can be yourself, speak honestly, and feel heard without judgment. Together, we’ll explore how your experiences, thoughts, and emotions influence your daily life and relationships. I balance space for reflection with practical strategies you can use outside of sessions. We’ll work on recognizing patterns, building coping skills, and making changes that align with your goals. I bring compassion and honest feedback while respecting your pace. You are the expert on your life, and my role is to help you build on your strengths and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and talk about what brought you to therapy. I’ll ask about your current concerns, relevant history, and what you hope to gain from our work together. We’ll also review confidentiality, discuss how therapy works, and make space for any questions you have.

You don’t need to know exactly what to say or share everything right away. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable while beginning to identify your needs and goals. My hope is that you leave feeling heard, supported, and clearer about our next steps.
