My name is Demerit Brown. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Louisiana. I have worked as a counselor for 11 years, and I have been licensed for 8 years. Areas of focus: relationship issues, depression, anxiety, and stress management.
I view counseling as a process in which the counselor and client work jointly to form a professional relationship based on trust, in order to address issues, the client may be experiencing. I view each client as a unique individual, so I prefer to use approaches deemed necessary to help clients.
In therapy sessions, I assist clients in identifying goals for therapy, triggers for symptoms/behaviors, and any unhealthy behaviors and strategies that the client may be using. I assist the client in identifying and using healthier coping strategies and interventions.
