Great to meet you!

Hi there, Demi here! I am so appreciative of you taking the time out of your day to seek out support for yourself and be here to read a little about me. I hope this drives you in the direction you're going for. Reaching out for support is challenging; it's acknowledging a need, taking action steps, and being vulnerable, all of which are apart of the therapeutic process. Be proud you've made it this far!

I have worked in the mental health field, in multiple different facets since 2018. My career in started in acute mental health crisis care and shortly transitioned into substance use treatment and co-occurring disorders for the next few years. Upon grad school to obtain my degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, from Merrimack College, I interned at the Worcester County Jail and House of Corrections before graduating in 2021. After graduation, I spent the next three years working in the MA DOC working with general population and residential treatment unit incarcerated individuals. In 2023, I started working for a group private practice that targets serving the LGBTQIA+ community and have been doing this full-time since 2024.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is based on how my clients present and their needs in these moments. I have worked in incredibly fast-paced environments that required me to deescalate a client in crisis one minute and then sit down and listen for the entire session the next client I met with. I offer a collaborative approach that is person-centered, strength-based, and empowering you to become one step closer towards your goals. I am deeply understanding and empathetic to the courage, effort, and time it takes to show up for yourself in and out of the therapeutic space, and my hope is to create a safe space for you to share all of this with me. I utilize a combination of CBT, DBT, Trauma Informed, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic techniques to best support you and your goals.

With my combined work and clinical experience, I have knowledge in working with LGBTQIA+ folks, gender affirming care, PTSD, grief, depression, anxiety, relationship and attachment issues and incarcerated individuals who are reintegrating into society.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a low pressure first session with me. I want to learn about you and set a foundation to build rapport and trust with me. I am open to hearing all about you, what brings you to therapy and what your goals are, as well as, wanting to create a space where you feel comfortable asking me questions that you have. The hope in this is that it will set up a solid foundation for what is to come in this journey.
