Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Denise Barnes, a licensed clinical social worker with experience supporting individuals through life’s challenges with compassion and evidence-based care. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Adelphi University and have worked extensively with adults and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship concerns, and life transitions.

My approach to therapy

My approach is grounded in person-centered therapy, which means I believe you are the expert on your own life. I provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can explore your experiences, challenges, and goals at your own pace. Together, we’ll focus on your strengths, build insight, and develop tools that align with who you are and the changes you’d like to see.

What you can expect from me

In your first therapy session, we’ll take time to get to know each other and talk about what brought you to therapy. I’ll ask some background questions about your life, your current challenges, and what you hope to gain from our work together. We’ll also discuss confidentiality, answer any questions you may have, and begin setting goals for treatment.
