Great to meet you!

I am a New York State licensed clinical psychologist with more than 25 years of experience specializing in the treatment of anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, specific phobias, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). I also work with clients experiencing depression, insomnia, and relationship issues across the lifespan.

I have devoted much of my career to supporting individuals and their families who are navigating high-functioning autism. I am highly skilled in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and also draw from a variety of treatment approaches, including mindfulness, DBT, and ACT strategies, tailoring treatment to each individual’s needs.

I also hold a Post-Doctoral Certificate in Neuropsychology, which informs my conceptualization and treatment planning and helps me develop thoughtful, individualized approaches to care. I draw on decades of clinical experience to bring a broad, well-rounded perspective to my work with clients.

My approach is holistic, compassionate, and responsive to each client’s unique life experiences. I strive to meet clients where they are and work collaboratively to tailor treatment to their individual needs and goals.

My approach to therapy

My interest in mental health was inspired early on by my mother’s work as a psychiatric nurse. Through my participation in community events where she worked, I came to appreciate the humanity, courage, and resilience of the individuals she served. Later, my undergraduate studies in psychology provided a foundation in neuroscience and appreciation of the importance of science-

based practice, leading me to pursue my doctorate in clinical psychology. These early experiences not only influenced my clinical training but continue to impact my career as a psychologist whose treatment approach perhaps is best characterized as compassionate and evidence based. I remain grateful for my mother’s influence, my early mentors, and the many professional opportunities I have had that continue to shape the meaningful and rewarding work I do.

What you can expect from me

I view therapy as a collaborative, active process. I generally begin with a thorough intake to best understand immediate symptoms and concerns, relevant historical details, as well as goals for treatment. In addition to introducing short-term coping strategies early on to provide symptom relief, treatment planning also includes the identification of long-term goals to help bring about lasting change. While my therapeutic style often is described as one of empathy and concern, my approach also tends to be direct and relies heavily on CBT as well as other evidence-based strategies. It is my belief that much of the work in therapy takes place between sessions, and I therefore may utilize homework or suggest between-session practice to reinforce progress. The value I place on developing a collaborative process in therapy also extends to coordinating care with psychiatric or other providers as indicated.
